Description
When Blockfest was founded in 2008, Hip Hop was in a marginal position in Finland: radio stations didn’t play the genre’s music, and major festivals didn’t book hip hop artists. Blockfest wanted to change this.
Over the years, Blockfest has played a significant role in the rise of Finnish Hip Hop culture. Both the genre as a whole and the festival itself have grown and evolved year by year. Nowadays, the genre dominates the Finnish charts, and Blockfest has established its position among the top festivals in Finland.
During the two-day festival, the three stages host more than 40 artists. Blockfest has an age limit of 18+, and as the festival area closes down for the night, the festivities continue in Nokia Arena, the biggest festival after-party in Finland.
